MSURA Endowed Student Scholarship Fund

We have some exciting news from the MSU Retirees Association Board of Directors.

Recently, the MSURA board created an endowed student scholarship that, when fully funded, will award an annual scholarship to an MSU Student who most likely will be a relative of an MSU employee or retiree. In just a few months, the board has already raised $48,000 – which means we are only $2,000 away from a fully funded endowment!

We are asking MSU retirees to consider this opportunity and help us hit our goal of $50,000 by making a gift to the endowment. Simply visit www.givingto.msu.edu/1923 and give online.

Why Support Student Scholarships?

MSU is committed to ensuring educational opportunity for all students qualified for admission, no matter their financial capability. Being able to meet financial need is critical for us to attract students with talent and drive to MSU, in an increasingly competitive environment.

This scholarship will be awarded to students who have a financial need, have demonstrated solid academic scholarship and show potential for leadership through participation in community service or extra-curricular activities. Preference will be given to MSU students whose parents or grandparents are MSU employees or retirees.

Why Support An Endowment?

Endowments are the best way to ensure that financial support for students will be permanently available. Endowed scholarships have a lasting impact at Michigan State University and it is critical to add to our overall endowment to remain competitive with our peers. MSU’s endowment has averaged an eight percent return over the last ten years – well ahead of the national average.

Continue Your Spartan Impact through the MSU Retirees Association!

As retirees ourselves, we are proud of MSU’s concentration of talent and expertise. It is also gratifying to continue our role in making MSU competitive in a global marketplace, which has the dual benefit of contributing to the State’s economic health and well-being.

Among the world’s top 100 universities, MSU brings together an exceptional faculty, an array of world-class facilities and resources, and more than 200 programs of undergraduate, graduate, and pre-professional study.

Our students become part of a vibrant, powerful network of campus communities and initiatives, including a nationally-recognized residential college, undergraduate research, and service-learning opportunities, as well as more than 600 student organizations.

Thanks, MSU retirees, for your support and long term dedication to MSU and to the future of our young Spartans.

Sincerely,

L. Patrick Scheetz, Ph.D. Chuck Webb, Ph.D.
