PROGRAM  --  Monday, December 14, 2009, 2:00 to 3:00 PM.  Speaker:  Annette Rummel, Ph.D., President & CEO, Saginaw Valley Convention & Visitors Bureau.  The topics for her presentation, unless she changes them, will be an update on the Saginaw Valley... home to Birch Run, Chesaning, Frankenmuth, & Saginaw; Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland, Bavarian Inn Restaurant, and Zehnder’s of Frankenmuth; the hotbed of activities offered throughout winter, spring, and summer, especially the wide variety of festival offerings; and any other subjects that MSU retirees might enjoy.  This will be an informational meeting for MSU retirees.  Time:  Doors open at 1:30 p.m. for refreshments (donuts and coffee); program starts at 2:00 p.m.  Location:  Community Room, Crescent Branch of the MSU Federal Credit Union at 600 E. Crescent Road just off Harrison Road in East Lansing.  Enter main door on the FIRST floor behind this building.  Parking is available in upper lot.  Easy access. PRESCRIPTION DRUG PLAN NEWS  --  New Generic Prescribing Program Effective on March 1, 2010.  MSU will implement a Generic Prescribing Program effective March 1, 2010, that will decrease prescription drug plan costs and continue to protect employee and retiree choices and access to quality medications.  The upcoming changes will strengthen the incentive for plan enrollees to choose less costly generic versions of medications by requiring enrollees to pay the cost difference when they choose to buy brand name drugs when a generic option is available.  There is no evidence that brand name drugs are any more effective than generic drugs, but the cost difference between brand name and generic drugs is significant.  Information about this new program has been mailed directly to all benefits-eligible employees and retirees.
